Here’s How Nirbhaya’s Mother Lamented over Salman’s Rape Comment

Salman Khan and controversies go hand-in-hand. They are pretty much like the two sides of a coin. Just when all settles down, Salman goes ahead and blurts out something as daft as comparing himself to a raped woman. And while media, fans and the industry insiders can be heard out aloud criticizing the star, Nirbhaya’s mother has now commented on the same. She lamented, “If he would have met my daughter then he would have realized how it feels to be raped”.

Not just this, another rape survivor Sunitha Krishnan, who is also a Padma Shri awardee social activist opened up about her views on Salman Khan’s comment in an open letter. Her letter goes, “I do not wish to take the name of the person in question because I feel it would be an act of giving him too much respect. The fact that he could easily compare himself to being raped shows how badly he has trivialised rape and rape culture. The harsh truth is that good looks and some talent made him the star that he is and he takes this role very lightly. With such fame, comes responsibility.''
She adds in her letter, "Instead of being aware of this, he has basically compared the scars, trauma and abuse of a rape victim to his role in a movie. I keep hearing men and women making such remarks and recently too, I found a woman who made a joke along these lines. She used to say 'I was raped by this' or 'I was raped by that' with no thought on the repercussions of these statements." She did not stop just there. Sunitha even called Salman a pervert and a disgrace. She adds, “What we need to remember is rape culture is around us and all of these trivialising remarks add to it. As far as I can say, only perverts can make such statements. He is a disgrace.”

Another rape survivor from Jaipur has asked the star, “Salman do you even know that the emotional pain is more than physical pain?”.

And if that was not enough, a reporter has now opened up about how Salman almost harassed a female film critic who was not fond of his work. He made a string of Tweets sharing what Salman did to avenge when a female journo he knew criticized his work had come to interview him. In his tweets without mentioning Salman’s name even once, this journo gives away details of how Salman once made a female journalist wait for several hours under a scorching sun and then peed hardly 5 ft. away from where she was sitting.
