Bollywood’s 2000s’ Starlets Who Had a Promising Start but Turned out to Be Duds!- Set 2.

Tanushree was another former beauty queen that entered Bollywood with a wish to make it big. She bagged her first biggie ‘Aashiq Banaya Aapne’ in 2005, and set the screen on fire with her onscreen chemistry with actor Emraan Hashmi. The film was followed by few bad choices like ‘Chocolate’, ‘Risk’, ‘Good Boy, Bad Boy’, and ‘Speed’, that only ended her filmy career. Tanushree went on a self-imposed sabbatical for two and a half years in 2010 and stinned everyone with her appearance with short hair and heavy frame. She then got back into shape soon and is reportedly trying for a comeback.

Amrita tried her hands at acting after she made a place for her as a model and a VJ. She made her Bollywood debut in 2002 but her span in the industry got over in 2009 with the film ‘Kambakkht Ishq’, only, as the actress gave more duds than hits, in her career.  Bidding adieu to the glamour world she married Shakeel Ladak in 2009 and is today happily leading a life as a wife and a mother.

Sneha made her dream debut with ‘Lucky: No Time for Love’ in 2005 opposite none other than Salman Khan. More than any other reason, Sneha came to limelight for her uncanny resemblance to Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.  However, her beauty could not save her and she said a good bye to Bollywood after she failed to make a mark in the industry with duds like ‘Aryan’ and ‘Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron’. She then moved down South, where again she could not make a place for her.

After winning hearts with her show ‘Amanat’ on the small screen, Grace bagged her big Bollywood break with the film ‘Lagaan: Once Upon a Time in India’ in 2001. The film broke all records and made way to the Oscars. Grace then delivered few more hits like ‘Munnabhai M.B.B.S.’, and ‘Gangajal’ but could not secure a place in the A-listers of the industry. Soon she vanished after doing quite a few South films.

Chitrangada arrived with a bang with the film ‘Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi’ in 2003 and looked promising enough as the next big thing in Bollywood, her acting, looks and style seemed perfect, however, stars did not favour her and the actress faded away with duds like ‘Yeh Saali Zindagi’, ‘Desi Boyz’, and ‘I, Me Aur Main’. These days, the actress is seen grooving to item songs in movies like ‘Joker’ and ‘Gabbar is Back’.

Gayatri, who participated in the 1999 Femina Miss India beauty pageant, and was chosen to represent India at the 2000 Miss International event in Japan, entered the film industry with ‘Swades’ opposite Shah Rukh Khan. Despite the film doing well, Gayatri chose to say goodbye to the glamour world and did not appear in any film since then. On 27 August 2005, she married businessman Vikas Oberoi and is today seen rarely at page 3 events.

Bollywood chirpy beauty Genelia entered Bollywood with ‘Tujhe Meri Kasam’ in 2003. Though the film flopped but it gave Genelia the love of her life, Riteish Deshmukh. Genelia then appeared in an array of South Indian films, along with Hindi movies like ‘Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na’, and ‘Chance Pe Dance’. She then married to her long time beau Riteish in 2012 and since then, took a break from the glam world. Today she is not just a loving wife but a doting mom to her sons Riaan and her second son, who was born last week, on June 1st.
